U.S. Purchasing and Supply Chain Localization consultant

This will focus on building a resilient and cost-effective U.S. purchasing and sourcing strategy that balances imported products with domestic supply. The consultant will establish relationships with U.S.-based manufacturers capable of producing equipment within Client’s existing product range as domestic substitutes. This will be complemented by the development of new product entry initiatives, working with supply chain partners and the marketing team to launch products better suited to the U.S. market than the current international range.

As part of this engagement, the consultant will conduct market and product suitability analyses for Clients existing portfolio, providing recommendations on localization, rationalization, and expansion opportunities. The role will also include designing optimal purchasing and stockholding strategies across UK, EU, and U.S. domestic suppliers, spanning both client owned and third-party warehouses. The consultant will calculate fully landed costs for all products entering the U.S. market, including freight, duties, and handling.

Trade and tariff management will be a critical component of this project. The consultant will oversee import tariff classification, duty calculations, and product categorization, and will conduct detailed cost-benefit analyses comparing imported versus domestically sourced supply chains. These analyses will consider total cost, lead times, working capital impact, and long-term scalability to support executive decision-making.
